Dealing with stress before your test week
Test or exam weeks, who doesn't love it. Personally, I experience these weeks as an oasis of peace. I know that many students and students don't share this experience with me. For example, it only causes stress to most students and students. Let me tell you how to deal with that!
Relax your body
Test weeks also stress me out, but I won't get carried away with them. Stress is a process in your body that unfortunately I can't explain properly to you. After all, I only had one or two years of biology in high school. What I can tell you about it is that the tension of your test (preparation) stiffen your muscles and gives you a sense of anxiety (or even anxiety). However, you don't have to surrender to this. By relaxing your body, you counteract this process. As a result, your muscles will no longer feel stiff and a general sense of calm prevails in your body. When I have a week of tests, I get to make sure I keep exercising regularly. This keeps my body relaxed!
Your brain also needs energy.
Preparing tests takes energy. Your brain will consume a lot of energy consistently for a long time. That is why it is important that you get enough energy. It's about having the right energy, so eat healthy. Also, make sure you don't eat too much or too heavy while studying. This is because the digestion process also costs energy. That may sound like an exaggeration, but as a result, less energy is available for your brain. It's not for nothing that you feel tired after you've had a heavy dinner. Your body needs a break because it's hard at work digesting your food. That's why I try to eat healthy but not too much when preparing for my test weeks (and, by the way, the rest of the year...).
Get help!
What creates a lot of stress when studying is not understanding what you need to know. That's why I always keep a list of points that I don't understand. Then I'm going to ask around if people can help me with this. There is always someone who can and wants to explain something good and short to you! This gives me peace of mind and ensures that I can still ask questions or get the explanations I need. If you don't know who to ask your questions to, please contact us. Then you can ask them to a student teacher during a tutoring session.
No more appointments.
After all, you have to work consistently with the material and focus on passing the test. That is why I have an agreement with myself that I will no longer make appointments in the two weeks before a test week. This also gives you more flexibility for other things like studying, such as exercising, discussing questions with fellow students and tutoring. That is why I experience preparing for a test week as an oasis of peace. These are days full of focus, self-development, good nutrition and regular exercise. Doesn't that feel great! I can imagine that you may have trouble making a good plan and sticking to it. We can help you with that with our homework guidance. That is no problem at all!
