Motivated to tutor during the final exams by the band with your student teacher!
Meet Quinte, student in 6 VWO. From September to May, she was tutored by Ruby for physics and chemistry. She has now completed her final exams. What did her guidance look like? And how did she experience them? In this blog, we look back together.
Who are you and what do you do in daily life?
My name is Quinte Bruijns and I attend Bernard Lievegoed College in my daily life.
Why did you seek help? What was your purpose of counseling at Studied?
I scored a lot of inadequacies. The most important subjects were physics and chemistry, so I took supervision for these courses. My goal at Studied was to broaden my knowledge and make sufficient grades out of the insufficient ones. I wanted to make it through the year to be able to go on to my further education.
What was the approach to your guidance? Did you achieve your goal with this?
The approach consisted of tutoring in which we addressed the material and also addressed questions. I certainly made progress with this! Through the combination of guidance and hard work, I reached my goal and saw an improvement in my grades.
How did you experience the guidance as personal?
Based on what I needed, the lessons were adjusted. In addition, I had a good relationship with the tutor, which also helped a lot. I felt that band because of the relaxed atmosphere there and the casual conversations we had during the tutoring. That made the guidance more personal. The personal part of the guidance motivates you to do something before class.
What lesson or event did you remember most of the guidance?
I don't have a specific lesson, but what I always liked were the personal conversations at the beginning of the lesson.
If you have taken online classes one or more times: why did you choose to have the lesson or lessons take place online? And did this work for you?
The online classes worked for me to discuss theory. The theory lessons work online because you don't necessarily need personal contact here and don't have to point out anything, for example. This becomes awkward when it comes to assignments. I only chose online lessons when discussing assignments when it really wasn't possible to meet up in real life.
How important do you find the click with your tutor?
I think the click is very important, because it makes you more motivated to go to tutoring.
Do you find your guidance easy to combine with other activities?
Yes, I think the guidance is easy to adapt to other activities. The guidance and tutoring have been adapted to our schedules.
What are your plans after your supervision with Studied (school year, study, work, other)?
I'm going to start midwifery next year.
What will you take away from your supervision at Studied in the rest of your career?
I include a certain way of learning and understanding questions. By this, I mean the way of learning and understanding questions where you better unravel the question and take the steps in the story.
Would you recommend Studied and why?
Yes. I would recommend it because it's personal!
